Great question.
Many people I know, both Christian and Jewish, have visited Israel and all were completely moved by their visits.
I've visited the Vatican and was completely moved - in awe of the beauty and the 'history.'
If we can separate the good from the evil and the evil from the good, maybe something of value will remain.
Maybe it isn't what these places mean to their supposed religions, it's rather like - in the US, keeping statues of confederate leaders intact instead of tearing them down, for no matter what the real stories are, the statues were created by artists to commemorate an era in our (supposed) history.
So even if everything we have learned is a lie, perhaps something will remain for our individual interpretation, or for our education or even for our appreciation.
