I live near the island and it’s just as silent here. No one questions, no one really cares. A solid blue state filled with callous people. If anyone speaks well of T or even repubs they get hammered online. But in 2020 the Trump people showed themselves and won the state for T, but the cheating took over.
So much is censored here on Maui. People are concerned and ask questions but there are no answers. They are not callous; just ignorant.
If I had video evidence of a DEW microwave attack on Lahaina that day I would not be able to post it. That kind of information is censored. Jmo.
I have no doubt of Maui people, but BI people do not speak about or ask questions. If anyone tries to talk about it online, in Neighborhood app for example, they are attacked. Someone tried to raise a conversation about the meagre FEMA $700 per family and was shut down with incredulity. They were certain it was $700 a month, bit it isn’t and even that was totally inadequate. So sad and disturbing.
$700 per family is an insult compared to how well illegal migrants are cared for. If this is part of the awakening process it is working and angering Americans.
There is no recourse evident right now. We just wait and watch.
The disparity is ugly. Appears to exacerbate the outrage. Was in a taxi with a Polish driver yesterday. He spoke about being in another country decades ago where government wanted to raise the cost of fuel by 10 cents a unit and people took to the streets to protest yet now no one protests the egregious increases in everything.
