It does feel awful. Of note, because I have really struggled with this part, but maybe it will help someone:
If you feel compelled to love others despite the big friction points, to try to help people who really seem to need you, and to freely give of yourself… please remember it is okay to also say no. The energy vampires are out to steal your light, your time, your patience, and your faith. You will know the difference by their ability to give and take. If they are only taking, then you could just be letting evil in to try to steal God’s gifts from you, especially true if nothing is ever good enough with them. It is not selfish to preserve your energy or to care for yourself first, even if it is not a minion hiding in your camp. Just do not let guilt play big on you, discern for yourself, then you should know where you stand with them - and stick to your guns.
