Unfortunately, I found out that Irish Spring does not deter mice. As you can see they even chewed it.

Ours works fine. There are several kinds of Irish Spring, use the "Original"

I thought it was working fine too until the mice nested right below the bar of soap inside my riding mower. I placed a bar on top of the air vent on the engine and one under the mower. Those are the chewed bars pictured below of “original” Irish Spring. It has the same strong fragrance I remember from my childhood.
That's odd. Ours just said "original" not "original clean". Don't know if there is a difference but I hope you find something that works.

Sadly for the mice, I have found traditional mouse traps the most effective, economical, toxic free way to rid my shed of mice.
