Ground Pork Char Siu Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pound (about 450 grams) ground pork
3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
Red food coloring (optional, for that classic Char Siu color)Marinate the Ground Pork:
In a bowl, combine the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, Chinese five-spice powder, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
Add the ground pork to the marinade and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 24 hours (48 hours if possible) in the refrigerator. This allows the flavors to infuse and gives the pork that signature Char Siu color.
Cook the Ground Pork:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
Shape the marinated ground pork into small patties or logs.
Place the patties/logs on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes
