I was raised catholic (my mother was catholic and my father converted from protestant after he married my mother) and my father was strict about attending church, confession, etc. Even went to a catholic school (uggh). When I started working the church immediately wanted to arrange my budget so that I could give more to the church - that's when I left - it told me they were not really about faith/religion, but about money. I also watched in my town as they built a 6 million dollar church during a down time when people needed help. Instead of helping people in need, they build a 6 million dollar church. It is very telling.
