Keflavik Iceland was huge military hub.
We lived in Iceland. My husband retired from Navy there, was naval Air base and NATO base in Keflavik. So much geothermal activity there. Very rough terrain, few paved roads or highways. No dirt, mostly volcanic rock. Huge rocks, mountains, moss(no grass) and very desolate. They had a lot of military, satellites and huge communications efforts there! Rockville Airforce station just down dirt road. It closed 1998, but appears this NATO British USA base is connected to 1947… operation paperclip anyone?
