A photograph of my grandma who died a few hours ago. Really looked up to both of them. They taught me a lot about keeping my word and working hard for yourself. She was 90 and is finally not suffering anymore. Our Christmas’s were postcard Xmas’s picking up Santa in the woods with everyone singing Christmas songs in a large sleigh. Player piano and roaring fireplace afterwards. Got to be in a few parades with them when I was young as well.
They sold antiques, gave sleigh rides to the public and were known all over Western WI and far beyond. She was the glue to our family. Sure will miss her. Please pray for her.
Until we meet again… 🙏❤️
Fierce Tribute to a Great Lady! Was that a funeral cortege she's riding in as a young lady? And what of picking up "Santa In The Woods?"
So much done without automobiles and trucks in that day.
Rest In Peace to her, and family.

Grandparents always hired someone to play Santa because they had trails in the woods and would give rides to the public for a fee. Christmas was always The best times together. They really did it up.
In the Midwest, watching the corn and soy poison us all, really up-close-like now.
Never heard of that, how magical and fun that must have been!

Yeah, this is actually from the 80s. We were in a parade. They sold antiques and ended up selling this antique hearse at some point. When I was a kid, I didn’t realize parades were meant for advertising businesses. Just thought they wanted to be in a parade Lol.
Here’s another photo that puts reality more in perspective. I’m the kid in the hat. My first acting job, now that I think of it. And last I suppose. We were supposed to look sad. We were in many parades advertising wagon rides and the antique business. Fun memories.

Probably rented out to productions of "Oliver!" That's maintaining history, there.
