Husband and I drove up to park in his white work van, with two large dogs to walk. 'Bout 9-year-old boy stopped on his bike to yell, "Don't kidnap me!" and kind of laughed as he did it.
I like to died with bemusement and appreciation of this sharp lil' man! It was funny because our midwest town is small and wholesome, but burgeoning on the outside of a state capital. Frickin' Mayberry around here.
That kid was confident. And funny. Relished his savvy.

It's true that the anecdote with the white truck and the little boy is surprising. It shows that he has vigilant parents who explained the dangers to him.
I didn't know the name Mayberry.
I looked it up on the Internet and saw that it was a town that had been used as the setting for a TV series.
So Mayberry means a quiet town, is that right?
