God has a way of protecting us from overindulging in painful truths and the frustrations brought by normies who have no fucking clue.

I am not a mechanic. I don’t paint cars. For two months I’ve done nothing but work on motors, detail cars, and paint car panels.

Me: God, I’m not a mechanic, and I do not paint cars. I’m a finance guy and software consultant.

God: Dan, you will work on cars, detail them, and paint them.

Me: But God, I don’t charge and will go broke.

God: You will go broke when you ignore my wishes.

Me: Okay God. Just tell me the next step because I’m not a mechanic.

God: That Prius wasn’t running and headed for junkyard. Does it run now? You are a mechanic if I deem it so.

All we have to do is God’s will. Don’t ask why. Just do…. And try to ignore the fog of war for a while. It’s good for one’s sanity.

God Bless You! I lost my corporate job (17 years of miserable, but with a good salary). I decided not to look for a similar job despite numerous quality referrals.. It was a life change, helping out friends and family with projects and picking up odd jobs while exploring work that was much more creative. I did not market myself, nor start a business. I have spent nearly five years without an actual job description, I am always learning something new because I am “the one to ask” when somebody needs a handy one-off solution. A friend of a friend is always a new friend to me. If I cannot do it, I will check it out and then tell them that. I have been busy ever since and there is very little asked of me that I cannot do with sincere integrity, even if I have never done it before. The Holy Spirit guides me and I am riding with faith into each new project that comes my way. I still do not really know, “what I do for a living”, but I am “living” and it comes with joy. 🙏🏻

Amen. Even though I don’t know it I may be headed down that road. Wouldn’t put on a mask so just left it behind. I’m kinda a Jack of all trades, but never professionally did any of it. Doing something new everyday could be fun, but I’d have to do it for donations.. within reason of course.

Jack of all trades/master of none (except trained at my corporate job, of course) has been a blessing - allowed me to escape my choke collar and leash. If you are meant to expand your horizons, these things will always find you and they can become a sustainable enough income. I will not say it is easy, but I will say it is interesting. I do charge what I need, and I do not charge enough according to many, but the referrals and some tips along the way kind of make up for that. It is not secure, but in faith I am just along for the ride until such time that I have to get back on the hamster wheel… I suppose nearly five years is a good measure so far of what I am capable of.

i surprise myself when I stretch and do something I never imagined I could do. All by the Glory of God, no doubt about it. Perhaps not charging enough is due to a spirit of charity. Win-win as long as it keeps me going. You will figure it all out.
