When a community is hit with a trauma the people unite and help each other. Those directly impacted maintain this unity longer than those who were indirectly impacted.

IMO, many generations.
Exactly! We see the absolute best and the absolute worst of humanity in trying times. Sadly the worse ones only see a profit to be made off of others suffering.
