I am reading this book right now and I think the author has done a good job discussing the school system in England around WWII and after WWII and how adolescent boys acquired power and prestige in all boys boarding schools through sex with other males. It also talks about the mentor/tutor and student relationships and how that contributes to these male interactions. Not all boys continued this path, but quite a few did. For some it was transitory or simply an exchange or form of currency.
