The territory of the modern Sahara Desert was densely populated back in the 16th-18th centuries, but hundreds of cities have almost vanished without a trace. Let's look into it.
It is interesting to overlay old maps on modern maps: the current "Eye of the Sahara" (first photo, doesn't it remind you anything?) takes the place of the city "Hoden". Places of other cities were taken by charred black rocks, sintered new formations, resembling burnt-out ruins.
What were the cities destroyed with? It scorched everything within a radius of 50-60 square kilometers, including vegetation and wildlife, rivers and lakes.
