I suspect it will neither be newer nor better. At least not in the way we would like. They've had this tech for years, just waiting for the right opportunity to roll it out. It will be an even more controlled system, and I think most will fall for it. They'll stage an event (solar flare/fake Carrington event, cyber attack, alien invasion or something), the masses will go mad for a few days, then they'll come up with this 'new' system they 'just so happen to have been working on these last few years...' 😒 Problem/Reaction/Solution.
