I have no idea how it knows. But you can do this trick on any reflective surface. TV screens, phone screens, glass windows, top of a desk, whiteboard, clear plastic water container, the plastic cover on DVDs, refrigerator, washing machine, and dryer. I thought maybe something to do with light, maybe an eye and mind trick, or we live in a freaking mirror. I don't know but it is perplexing.
