Individuals rather than events create history.
Events create the individual:
they help a person rise or fall; stand in the face of adversity or walk away with a held held low
The individuals shapes what is before them based on passions, wants, needs - it's in this we become that masters of our universe
Those who allow history to shape the world are subject to whims and tide of society

Backstory
As we get older, we are told that history is shaped by events not individuals.
That is "tide of history" bunk.

*I’m looking from a 10,000 ft level based on observation and know nothing
I see two different ideas in VK’s statement because of the added (,)
“History is going to repeat itself,”
I take that as typical events, on the surface, unfolding in the beginning; and expected aftermaths
It may sound like nothing is occurring on the macro level, but it may on the micro - even if it’s minor
“not just the history we were taught”
Something is going to ‘shift’ the conscience or something; and prevent us from falling in the same loop
Meaning, the outcome is going to be different/ we are going to rewrite said ”history”
This time 'history' is based on what we do in the event; rather than the event shaping us
