After your dog died how long did it take you to get another dog?

Awwwh hun did your precious?

Nana has had 10 doggies in these 60 plus yrs. and all but these last 2 I have now were one at a time.
All of them lived a long dog life but one.

I have always found that the quicker you get another the better.
Not a single one of them had the same personality as any of the others but I loved them all, each one just as deeply as the last and they all loved me unconditionally just as the last.

The sooner you get another one to pour that love on the better in my opinion and experience and the sooner the wound scabs over, but be ware to not compare your next doggies to the last one.

It would be unfair to the new doggie as they will never be the same and you will only be disappointed if you think you will be able to replace that relationship, or if your expectations of the new one are determined by the standard of the last.
Leave your last baby to God and start a new.
