The tech wasn't everywhere like now so the direct brainwash wasn't as prevalent. There was war going on when I was born and believe it or not I was taught patriotism and constitution, Probably needed cannon fodder. The skies were beautiful and you couldn't play tic tac toe on it, Neighbors helped neighbors. It wasn't perfect but the influence of propaganda was minimal because newspapers and such just didn't work as well and most households didn't have a tv, The radio was the thing then. Paul Harvey was Boss! I watched the news coverage in 1963 of the JFK assassination on a tv with a cabinet the size of a washer and dryer side by side and with a round picture the size of a salad plate and it was not flat. It was not a good image either. We grew up in a different world from the youngsters.
