Yes, I know what you are saying, and I wholeheartedly agree. Turning the other check is not for major evil perpetrators, but our brethren who may be persuaded towards godly sorrow and repentance.
Jesus, Himself, went after the Establishment religious leaders who were corrupt. He called them awful names and pronounced the judgments to come for them. People who read on the surface do not understand the severity of some of the parables.
In our day our education has so dumbed down 'meaning' that much is not understood! Education majors on minors and minutia and have made our language of non-effect and absurdities. Black Lives Matter and they do, but the absurdity is that ALL Lives Matter. But then there is the nitpicky nonsense e.g. Micro-aggressions! There is no salient way to measure such subjectivity!
