Same thing happened to my hubs - upper middle quadrant. First time he went to emergency, and they told him his gall bladder needed to be removed. Not. It eventually went away. I don't remember what he took.
Second time I gave him baking soda and water. I think it was 2 glasses over a period of several hours. Cleared it right up.
any chance you can go to a chiropractor? It could simply be the ileocecal valve. A good practitioner can adjust it and the pain will subside near immediately.
