Just pondering.... The left has accused Trump of declaring his run to avoid legal actions. If that were the case you would think the whole criminal lot would be jumping on that band wagon and declaring their own runs. I know its early but could this be the reason no one else has declared in light of Trump's filing......
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment says that no person "shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military" who had previously taken an oath to support the Constitution and then "engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof." That section was added after the Civil War.
