Agreed. Even common sense with zero research can prove Covid isn't going to cause the fear they need.
What distraction will be used next? We see food shortages, but right now its not a large enough scale scare event, so FF incoming??
I find it interesting our shelves have been stocked fine the last few months (Australia) BUT the last 3 weeks there is a sudden supply shortage and shelves are looking bare again.

Its hit & miss like that here in the USA. Stay as prepared as you can. We're praying for you guys. Us patriots need to stick together worldwide.
Thankfully my veggie beds are helping so much, glad its Spring and I can finally get tomatoes, capsicum, watermelon, pumpkins etc in

Its Fall for me, so I'm currently canning my garden. Keep up that Victory garden, good for you! I'm seed saving as much as I can as well.
I have been buying seed (especially rare and heirloom as well as medicinal plants and herbs Ive not grown before) and saving seed as much as possible, going to try and grow a tonne of zucchini this season after reading about dehydrating it and turning it in to flour.

I've been looking up medicinal purposes of everything I grow this year as well! Great minds ;)
Zucchini flour? I'm going to have to look that one up. I've never done that, but its a great idea when zucchini grows so easily. Except for me this year. 1st time I've ever had squash bugs & I lost battle. I'm also focusing on drying & grinding extra greens. I buy powdered greens why don't I just make my own. I never use the greens from so many edible plants! I do now.
Living rural the price of everything has gone up so much when it is already higher than the city.
Ive never made zucchini flour but sounds like it can be usefyl in many recipes and it is another way to store it for winter along with dehydrating slices.
Sorry to hear you had squash bugs, so frustrating when the pests take over, my brocc and cauliflower are going to seed so the aphids have arrived in droves and I was spraying with eco oil until the ladybugs arrived now they are multiplying in numbers I am hoping the aphid numbers will die down.
We are also making use of the whole plants, from carrot tops to brocc and cauli leaves as well as eating heaps of 'weeds' too.

Do you use essential oils at all? I've had great success keeping the aphids away spraying with oils. I also release lady bugs every year to help.
If I remember right I used rosemary, peppermint, clove, lavender & geranium oils. About 25 drops of each in a 2 gallon sprayer.
I have chickens now, so hopefully they help keep some of the unwanted bugs away next year 🤞
Best of luck in your growing season!!! I wish you every success.
Thanks heaps for the idea, I do have those oils :)
I wish they sold ladybugs here, I have enquired with a few businesses that are all the other side of Australia, hopefully one might ship to us if they have the type we have here.
Id love chickens, soon as we move to property we will get some, we have rabbits though, they are amazing manure machines lol
Thank you, I really hope my fruit trees produce this season, went a little crazy and now have about 40 fruit trees lol

Oh rabbits are a huge benefit for gardens, well provided they don't get in it!
40 fruit trees! I'm so jealous. We have 2 apples & 1 plum that produce now & planted a new peach tree.
I would love to move to a more rural location with more land. Someday 🤞
I hate being dependent on food, water, power; however they are fabulous things to have.
We have fort knox for them as we have dog who would eat them! But they get lots of goodies from the garden.
I am watching the fruit grow with joy, the mandarins and oranges are now flowering, I cant believe it can take up to a year for the fruit to ripen!
Looking forward to cherry season (usually Christmas time) :)

Ohhh fresh cherries at Christmas would be awesome! We get them in July. I didn't realize citrus could take a full year to produce. I grew a mini lemon inside my house for a few years, but the dang Covid kittens we were fortunately & unfortunately blessed with killed it :(
I have 2 cherry trees so hoping to get a few, MIL trees are massive so we raid hers haha
I didnt know that about citrus either, they are generally a winter/cold weather fruit so I was wondering why all mine had started flowering now and did some research lol hopefully our weather conditions are perfect and it doesnt take so long.
My huskies are plant destroyers, have had to fence off the veggie beds and about to create an orchard they cant get in to lol
