about the Ethiopian New Year being 9-11
& thinking I wonder why he posted that?

Sure enough:
"Enkutatash is a public holiday
in coincidence of New Year in Ethiopia & Eritrea.
It occurs on Meskerem 1 on the Ethiopian calendar,
which is 11 September
according to the Gregorian calendar."

9-11 Gregorian
= 8-29 Julian

9-24 Gregorian [today]
= 9-11 Julian

BTW, the Ethiopian calendar is 7-years behind Gregorian:
"Ethiopia's calendar takes its inspiration from the idea
that Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden for 7-years
before they were expelled for their sins."
