Hey Anons, been here following for a while but this is my first time posting.
I'm on Maui now. We arrived on the 8th when the fires were happening. No one, including locals, knew what was going on. The fires were all out by the following evening, but the media continued to say they were active and told people not to come to Maui. Then they told people not to come because we had to conserve resources for the locals. Aside from those first couple days when Walmart was out of some first aid items and things like ramen that people bought to donate, there is no shortage of anything here. Shelves are full. This is why I'm posting. I spoke with a shop owner yesterday who said "Tell everyone you know to come to Maui. Its a ghost town and we need the business."
I believe the "don't come to Maui" campaign is just like the "shut down your business to save lives" b.s. they fed us about covid. They're trying to bankrupt these people to force them to give up their land.
