When someone you know goes transhuman, how are you supposed to relate to them? Are we still the same species? Did the person I know die and get replaced with a doppelgänger? Do I owe them the same social graces as before? Can I trust them to have the same conscience, empathy, motives? Is it murder if you killed them, or something else? Do they have the same legal rights as before if they are genetically modified?

It's like we've taken Pandora's Box and tossed a grenade in — forget merely opening it!

We must let people choose their own paths.
Life is alike a river - the moment which you shared with them before they augmented, has past.
Life and time has moved on.
They are on their own journey now, and
You are on yours
Wave to them and wish them well.
But the time you shared, the waters from that time,
Have moved on.
As have they,
So have you
Wish them well on their journey forward.
