COURT RULING: 24% Marijuana Tax Stands in Michigan
A Michigan Court of Claims judge has rejected an attempt to block the state’s new 24% wholesale marijuana tax, allowing it to take effect as planned.
Judge Sima Patel denied a request from cannabis industry groups seeking to stop the tax, ruling they did not show they were likely to win their case or face irreparable harm. The tax is part of a statewide road-funding law.
What this means:
▪️The 24% wholesale tax will take effect Jan. 1, 2026
▪️The lawsuit continues, but no injunction will pause the tax
▪️Industry leaders warn the tax could raise prices and strain small businesses
State officials say the new tax could generate hundreds of millions annually for Michigan’s road and infrastructure projects. Just a way to separate you from more of Your hard earned cash, Wasn't they supposed to be already utilizing that tax for roads???
