PRESS RELEASE: OFF-DUTY CCSO DEPUTY ASSISTS WYOMING HIGHWAY PATROL IN PHYSICAL ALTERCATION

On Saturday, November 22nd, off-duty Carbon County Sheriff's Office Deputy Jason Black was shopping in Casper, Wyoming, on his regular days-off.

While driving to Menards, he witnessed a Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper engaged in a physical altercation with several individuals during a traffic stop.

Without hesitation, Jason jumped out off his personal vehicle and ran to assist the trooper, helping him gain control of the violent subjects and safely detain them.

For his actions, Deputy Black will be receiving a Letter of Commendation during the Board of County Commissioners Meeting on Tuesday, December 2nd.

Deputy Black's quick actions and willingness to jump into a violent altercation to help a fellow law enforcement officer while off-duty is truly commendable, and we are extremely fortunate to have him on our team.

Thank you, Jason!

-Sheriff Alex Bakken
