I worked as a nurse in a Detention center for a little over a year. It is inhumane. Green bologna, one slice, on 2 slices of hard bread for lunch, no air in summer, no heat in winter. Medical conditions that should be addressed immediately, and the inmates are told they can wait until next week for an xray on a white (no blood flow) finger he dislocated. Furthermore, the woman in charge would not let me reduce it. So, I told the inmate how to reduce it if it was me, and he did it himself. Pinked right up.
My goodness, the chain gang was more humane. I remember as a child taking cold lemonade out to the guard and his charges while they cleaned up our ditches along our little country road. We looked forward to seeing them every spring.
And, they all had good manners.

I became a nurse to help people, not to keep them sick. I tried to change things where I worked, but was simply told I had great ideas, but the cost of implementing my methods would cost too much. I was speaking of cooking balanced meals in the hospital as opposed to the fast food method our hospital had swithched to in the past 5 years. Their goal seemed to me to disrupt normally controlled diabetics diet when they are admitted. Within 12 hours after admission, and 2 meals from the cafeteria and now they could label them an uncontrolled diabetic, and keep them as long as they wanted, according to insurance.
What usually happenedd was some nice nurse would tell the patients family, "If you had the sugar under control at home, why not just bring the patient his regular meals while he is here." No problem, no spikes in blood sugar.
I gave up my license about 10 years ago after admitting defeat in my chosen profession.

Very sad! But TY for sharing this with all of us!!! Maybe in the future, things can be dealt with much better, and filled with more compassion and kindness!!!💛

We can hope and pray for that, but we need more compassionate people in healthcare. The biggest problem I see is the apathy of most nurses I worked with over 20 years.
They are in it for the money, and actually hate patients in my opinion. They get mad at the patient for code browns, or vomiting, or even asking for too much like blankets and pillows, or an ice bag.
I saw a patient code one day, and his nurse looked at the monitor, saw the patient was in trouble, and started cussing under her breath about having to get off her ass and take care of him.

I believe it. Several years ago I was visiting someone in the hospital (pre-vid). While waiting in the lobby, several nurses passed by and it was impossible to notice how extremely overweight they were. Aside from having healthcare knowledge, I would think after what they see everyday, they would take extra good care of themselves. Blows my mind that they wouldn't.

They were part of a research study to determine the fat content of chicken meat. It was found to be lower than other meats and nurses were informed of this result. They proceeded to eat more chicken because it was lower in fat. They were duped. We all were.

Well now, I can actually speak to that. I have lost 105 pounds over the last 2 years. I am not in real great health. I have had 21 surgeries, mostly repairs, but some things removed.
I have polyneuropathy (possibly from DDT exposure as a child. They use to spray our neighborhood with a bug truck we chased. ) from head to toe, starting at 8yo and it is progressing fairly quick now. I cannot exercise now, so I eat, out of boredom. I use to keep off weight with exercise.
But, 2 years ago I got serious about doing all I could to prolong my life long enough to find out what my damn purpose on the earth is supposed to be now that my children have passed.
Depression set in as I got worse, and fatter.
I just came in from the garden we planted out back. I cannot do all I use to, but I am doing what I can. This is the first year in 6 that I have been well enough to go out into the yard, or the garden.
Progress.

Oh boy can I relate to all you have said here. I worked as an RN for 50 years. My specialty was ER and Critical Care. I was a staff nurse, charge nurse, and also had 3 jobs as a nurse manager. I had the opportunity to mentor quite a few new graduate nurses, as well as interview and hire nurses. The profession has changed dramatically and sadly not in a good way. You are correct, it became a job and not a calling for most. When interviewing nurses often the first question I was asked is "how much vacation time do I get?" Another statement was "I want to work only days, and I don't want to work the big holidays " 🙄 I also had to teach basic skills like venipuncture, catheter insertion etc. Some new graduates had never done this on a real patient, only on lab mannequins! Comfort measures were replaced with pharmaceutical interventions. No nutritional interventions, or lifestyle changes seem to be taught either. It is primarily pharmaceutical algorithms that are followed. 😒

I am 67 years old and I remember the nurses at the Military hospitals, because I have had chronic bronchitis since I was a baby, so I knew these Dr's, and nurses by name.
The nurses came around with the last pass of meds and gave each patient a short 5 minute back rub, tucked them in, gave them the call bell, and with a smile said, "Just ring if you need me."
These are the people that made me want to become a nurse.
I have literally seen nurses place the call bell where there was no way in hell the patient could reach it.

When Medbeds get here, we won't need types like that in healthcare, and EVERY Medbed Team will be thoroughly screened for being of Good Hearts & Soul, and of course, any "low vibration" attitudes will be detectable throughout the process, so it'll be high vibe wanting to help & serve others truly & faithfully or go jump in a lake, I reckon.

I've worked in healthcare for 40 years now and I can say, it has changed dramatically. People work at a "job" now. I used to be so stressed out with what I would see on a daily basis. I finally asked God for help and He told me that I needed to make my "job" my missionary instead. Now, I work for God and my "job" is now how I minister to patients. I no longer work for the healthsick system. God is in control and is fixing what has been corrupted by man. Keep the faith and set your face on God instead. Everything else will fall in line.

I began researching homeopathic treatments and cures.
My own health has improved drastically since I gave up the phamaceuticals. I do not recommend anything I have not used myself. I recommend the patient do their own research with my help.
I had a setback with respiratory distress and had to go on an inhaler to breathe, but I am working on getting rid of that as well.
I am trying to teach people how to research their own health, symptoms, and homeopathic treatments. I just figured Mother Earth was made for us, so she should have everything we need right at our fingertips.
We just need to remember.

Our “job” , occupation, vocation, is actually a field where
Our daily interactions are sawn seeds into the lives
Of our coworkers, “customers”, patients, students,
teachers ,,bystanders,
Family and even strangers,
then work becomes an act of worship
To our Heavenly Father.
